I am a full-time Mediator and qualified solicitor. My litigation background includes health, professional & government liability and workplace relations.
I have practised full time as a Mediator since 2016 because of a genuine commitment to alternate dispute resolution. I was included by Doyle’s Guide to the Australian Legal Profession in its inaugural list of Leading Mediators NSW in 2018 and again in 2019.
My Mediation and ADR practice includes:
– Medical negligence Mediations and facilitation of expert witness joint conferences
– Other personal injury matters – motor accidents, work injuries, occupier & vicarious liability
– Historic institutional carer abuse claims
– Commercial matters (re disputes over sums up to $1M)
– Court-appointed mediator to the ACT Magistrates Court
– Law Society NSW Mediators Panel
– Referral of court-ordered Mediations from the District Court of NSW
My legal background:
For the first 10 years of my career I acted for injured plaintiffs, including the establishment of a successful medical negligence practice in 2000 operating on a contingent basis and without recourse to advertising.
From 2007, I acted at partnership and consultant level in 2 Sydney CBD mid tier law firms for 6+ years, representing various state government departments and commercial insurers in areas such as education, police, roads, health, occupier’s liability and professional liability.
I then acted for approx 150 insulation industry clients in the 2014 Home Insulation Program Royal Commission. This led to high level consultation with Ministers of the Commonwealth regarding a payment scheme, sourcing of litigation funding and finally: to the launching of a class action against the Cth, in Aug 2016.
What I love about Mediation is the ability to achieve a cost effective resolution on best terms for all parties – and to address some of the key drivers of the conflict in a way that just isn’t possible in Court. And I am a big believer in the importance of good preparation. It always gets the best results.
